Once in a while K and I will treat ourselves to a nice dinner date. Last night was one such occasion. We sought out an independently owned restaurant with a gourmet menu. We found
Currents located not that far from the house and they specialize in a farm-to-table/market-to-table concept. The chefs are young, inventive and very skilled.

I felt a bit overwhelmed by the menu, only because so much of it looked appealing. We settled on the "Starters" menu and enjoyed the Lobster and Crab Bisque, then salads. Rather than get entrees we opted to get a Brie and Apple Salsa flat bread and Prosciutto Wrapped Shrimp. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted fabulous.

I kept driving by and thinking what an elegant restaurant it appeared to be. I wasn't wrong. The atmosphere was cozy and romantic. It was dimly lit with a neutral pallet and just enough character. I loved the big picture windows outlined with lights. If it hadn't been for those windows I would not have suggested we try Currents.

We can't rave about it enough. Apparently, we are not alone. They were listed as one of the Top 50 restaurants in the Bay Area and will be reviewed in Tampa Bay Magazine.
If you are in the area I highly recommend them for a wonderful date night.
